Jim was born on May 13, 1954 two days before Walt and Agnes Sorgi started the The Sorgi Insurance Agency with 3 children and no clients. 

Jim graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1982 and joined the agency in 1983.

Jim has served on many nonprofit boards including President of the Durham Jaycees, current and former chair of The Salvation Army of Durham, Orange and Person Counties. He is a current board member of the Public School Foundation of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Jim has more than 26 years insurance experience and holds the CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation.  Jim is married to Monte Teal Sorgi and with their 2 children, Mark and Kate live in Chapel Hill.

Jim always pulls for the UNC Tarheels and for the Duke Blue Devils when they arent playing each other.  He is true blue of one color or another.
